Ergonomics Awareness Training Northern Ireland & UK
Ergonomics 101: the foundation of a safer, more productive workplace. On-site, online or hybrid.
Understanding Ergonomics is where it starts
Most workplace injuries do not happen suddenly. They develop over time through tasks that place repeated strain on the body, working environments that have never been reviewed and habits that have simply become normal. By the time a worker reports pain, the problem has often been building for months or years.
Ergonomics awareness training, sometimes called Ergonomics 101, gives your workforce and their managers the knowledge to recognise those risks early, before they become injuries, absences or claims. It is practical, immediately applicable and tailored to the way your organisation actually works.
All training is delivered by Julie Rainey MSc C.ErgHF MCIEHF MIHFES, a Chartered Ergonomist and Human Factors Specialist with extensive industry experience across manufacturing, engineering, food production, office and retail environments.
Tailored to your organisation and sector
No two organisations face the same Ergonomics challenges. Every session is developed around your specific operational environment - the tasks your people perform, the risks present in your setting and the knowledge your workforce already has.
Training is available as on-site delivery at your premises, online delivery, or hybrid programmes combining both. Sessions can be delivered to mixed groups or tailored for specific teams, departments or roles. All content is practical, engaging and designed to give participants tools they can use from the next working day.
Who it is for
Ergonomics awareness training is suitable for any organisation where people are at risk from work-related musculoskeletal disorders, fatigue or Ergonomics-related inefficiency. This includes manufacturing, engineering and food production, pharmaceutical manufacturing and warehousing and logistics, office-based organisations and retail and customer-facing environments.
There is no minimum or maximum organisation size. Whether you need a single session for a small team or a programme rolled out across multiple sites, training can be structured to suit.
Why it matters
In 2023-24, 18,000 people in Northern Ireland suffered from work-related musculoskeletal disorders. 260,000 working days were lost. Manufacturing alone accounts for 13.5% of all NI MSD cases.
The cost of a single MSD case extends well beyond the individual. Absence, reduced productivity, cover costs, management time and potential employer's liability claims all compound the direct cost. Most of those injuries were preventable.
Ergonomics awareness training reduces that risk by building the knowledge that makes prevention possible.

Ready to go further?
For manufacturing, engineering and related organisations, Ergonomics 101 awareness training is often the first step in a longer journey. If you want to build lasting, embedded Ergonomics capability within your organisation - rather than a one-off session - the next step is the Ergonomics Champions Training.
The Ergonomics Champions Training develops trained workers and supervisors within your organisation who can identify concerns, support their colleagues and ensure Ergonomics issues are acted on before they become injuries. It goes beyond awareness to build a functioning, supported Champion network - with specialist input embedded from day one.
